Some ideas for soothing your menstrual discomforts...

While you are soothing your discomforts with a well placed compress bag, hopefully you will be sipping a cup of herbal tea. Once the exclusive domain of healthfood stores, many herbal teas are now available conveniently packaged in grocery stores. The advantage of healthfood store shopping is the knowledgeable staff, books and pamplets, and the natural forms of organic herbs for making your own infusions. Consistently safe tea choices for general short-term menstrual discomforts include chamomile, dandelion root, dong quoi, ginseng - either in prepared bags, or herbs for steeping (always the superior choice when possible).

Some women find that light excercise may help relieve menstrual cramps; walking might be one of the most effective forms of excersice for cramp relief.

If your symptoms are severe, any form of self-medication is a foolish choice which may allow a significant problem to be ignored or overlooked. Begin with a medical examination by a qualified physician you feel you can talk to. Follow up by learning all you can about complementary health practives which may benefit you. This holistic approach should also include a look at all aspects of your life and where the stress factors are in it. Debilitating cramps can sometimes by the only way for your body to force you to rest!
